ANOTHER trip to Indy. We had fears. Their computers could have been down like they were when we went up the 1st time. (Luckily, that time we didn't need the computers.) Simon wasn't sure what day this wk federal employees got off work for Ronald Reagan's death, so it could have been today. But it all went fine!
We left about 20 minutes later than I wanted, but we still got there around 9am. He took a number & we sat. We were #63, and they were on #55. But the numbers went by quickly, cuz about 15 minutes later, they called him up to the window. She gave him a blank copy of the EAD application to fill out & take back to her. (Had we known that, we would have just brought a photocopy of the one already mailed to them. *wink*)
After he gave it to her, he sat back down & waited about 20 more minutes. Then they took him back. When he was done, they told him to have a seat and it would be ready for him in about 2 minutes.
And that's pretty much how it went. We were in and out in about an hour, maybe a little less. And now he's legal to work! We gotta apply for his SS# today since he's already had an interview n all. I'm hoping we can get something to show his potential future employer that he's applied for the SS#.
The interum EAD is about the size of a driver's license, but it looks TOTALLY fake, as the type on it is all off-center (some letters are UNDER his picture) and not dark *at all*. Very weird. It's good till Feb '05 (IIRC).

I hope you get yours soon too. How long till you hit your 90 days? I hope you'll be able to find a decent job quickly after you get your EAD. I know it's extra hard on you guys to not be able to contribute to the household income. Bless your hearts...
